Dear Resident,

Unfortunately homes in this immediate area have been burgled during the last 7 days. I ask that you consider the following crime prevention measures to make your home less attractive to burglars so that opportunities for those persons responsible for these crimes are reduced:-

1) Please consider leaving a light on in your home or on a timer switch.
Also, keep your curtains kept drawn if you leave for work in the mornings and return home after it has got dark.
2) Please don't leave your 'wheelie bins' by rear garden gates or in a location that would help burglars climbing in to any of your windows.
3) Please install (if you haven't done so already) a 'movement sensitive' light at the front door of your house.
4) Please trim any trees / bushes / vegetation in your front garden that may be obscuring the view of the front of your house from the pavement.
5) Please don't leave any keys near to front / rear doors - please keep them in a safe place. There have been instances of burglars entering houses/flats to steal car keys so that they can then steal motor vehicles from outside the house/block.
6) If you have bought any item of value recently, please dispose of the wrapping box by turning it inside out and leaving out with your cardboard so that it doesn't advertise your purchases.
7) Consider storing any expensive purchases/Christmas presents in your loft (if you have one).
Please keep in touch with your neighbours and try and look out for any suspicious activity in the road/car park/around the flats.
If you do see anything that you consider to be suspicious the please dial 999 immediately. Thank you.

Yours sincerely,

Simon Dawson
